Join us for an inspiring talk with Rachael Maza, Artistic Director of ILBIJERRI Theatre Company and director of the acclaimed music theatre performance, 'Big Name, No Blankets', which tells the story of the Warumpi Band, the first rock 'n' roll band to sing in an Aboriginal language.
In this event, Rachael will delve into the legacy and ambitions of ILBIJERRI Theatre Company, the development journey of 'Big Name, No Blankets', inspired by stories from one of the founding members, Sammy Tjapanangka Butcher, and the collaborative process with the Butcher family. This talk provides a unique opportunity to explore the transformative power of the arts in sharing First Nations stories.
This talk complements the 'Big Name, No Blankets' Darwin Festival performances at the Darwin Amphitheatre on Wednesday 7 August and Thursday 8 August.
